The Look
The No. 5A is a refined expression of one of Bohlin’s foundational buckle forms, developed during the golden age of Hollywood Westerns. Its proportions follow the classic 1" ranger format, a design that helped define the visual language of Western costume and continues to serve as a standard of understated elegance.
This variation features overlaid scroll and floral elements across the buckle, keeper, and tip, creating a cohesive composition with depth and movement. Framed by a hand-twisted rope border and centered with a raised shield, the design balances ornament and restraint, offering a timeless platform suited for both wear and personalization.
A gold version of this form was worn by Roy Rogers, reflecting its place within the lineage of classic Western film design.

Care
Bohlin buckles are made to be worn, not just displayed. Crafted from solid precious metals with hand-finished details, each piece is intended to develop a natural patina over time — a signature of heirloom-quality silver and gold.
To clean, gently wipe with a soft, non-abrasive cloth and, if needed, use mild diluted soap and warm water to remove surface dirt. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely before storing.
Avoid chemical polishes or ultrasonic cleaners, as they can damage intentional finishes, inlays, and natural oxidation. Patina is part of the story — let it evolve with you.
